1777 Burgoyne takes command and Carleton resigns his commission
1777 Promoted to Lieutenant-General
1781 Appointed C-in-C in place of Sir Henry Clinton
1783 Returned to England and created 1st Lord Dorchester
1790 (16th July-27th March 1801) Appointed Colonel of 15th Light Dragoons
1802 (14th Aug- 8th Nov. 1808) Appointed Colonel of 4th Dragoons
1808 (10th Nov.) Died in Maidenhead
