| James Dyson Bourne was the son of Sir James Bourne, 1st Baronet, Conservative MP for Evesham 1865-1880. The younger James was born 29th July 1842 at Heathfield, Childwall, Lancs. He was listed as a major in the 5th DG in 1881 and commanded the regiment from 1882 in which year his father died and he inherited the title. His command was brief as he died on 11th Nov 1883 shortly after retiring. He married Lady Marion Jane Loftus in Dec 1875. They had a daughter who died after birth. |
