5th Dragoon Guards

2nd Horse Standard 1750

The regiment was the 2nd Horse, officially from 1746, until 1788. In 1747 the regulations standardised the design so that they conformed to a pattern laid down. The regimental designation featured in the centre surrounded by a union wreath and the conjoined union rose, thistle and shamrock appeared in two corners. The white Horse of Hanover was universal for all Colours and Standards and was not connected to the regimental badge.
