Officers in India 1891

This photo of officers of the 7th DG in India is interesting as it shows that they were wearing khaki tunics. But they continue to wear the blue breeches with a gold stripe. The white undress pouch-belt is worn over the brown leather Sam Browne belt, perhaps inspired by the Corps of Guides who dressed in a similar way. The tunics have steel shoulder chains. Their helmets are also khaki and the gauntlets are brown leather, although the boots are black. The Commanding Officer sitting proudly in the middle is either Henry Grant who retired in 1891, or Walter Creagh who took over.
