Standard Bearer 1906

The Troop Sergeant-Major carries the Standard attached to a plain white leather Standard belt. This is an illustration by Doug Haggar from a photo taken at Canterbury in 1906 at the time of it's presentation. The commanding officer, Lt-Col Thompson published the following amendment to Standing Orders:

Section XXIIa THE STANDARD

The Standard is the Emblem of the Regiment and will at all times be treated with the highest honours.

Guards handing over or receiving the Standard will invariably turn out and "Carry Swords' or 'Present Arms".

When the Standard is brought on parade uncased, swords will be carried and the trumpets will sound the 'Salute'.

Officers or soldiers when passing the Standard uncased will invariably salute it.
