7th Hussars

Band in India 1888

The 7th arrived at Secunderabad at the end of December 1886 and stayed there until October 1895. The regiment is seen here with the band at the front, wearing winter dress uniform but with white tropical helmets instead of fur busbies. The only drum visible is the time-beater's bass drum. There is no corps of drums and no drum-major. They seem to be led by a small boy in a dark sun hat.
