7th Hussars

Robert Hale

Hale is seen here in a group of officers of the 7th Hussars in Edinburh 1876. He is also to be seen in group photos in Hounslow 1873 and Dublin 1877, always with a tanned complexion and white moustache and mutton chops. He is wearing the blue frock coat with black mohair braid and buttons. The other officers wear a similar uniform but he is the only one with badges of rank on the collar, a star and crown. Robert hale was the son of Robert Bladgen Hale who established the family home at Alderley House in the Cotswolds. He, the father, was MP for West Gloucestershire.
