7th Light Dragoons

Officer's Badge 1785

The first type of officer's blue coat was worn from 1785 and had embroidered epaulettes with this badge sewn on. It is similar to the badge used on the officers' shabraques before 1784 and probably for a few years after that date. The straightforward CR cypher of Queen Caroline, wife of George II was still in use at this early stage of the 7th Light Dragoons but would soon change to the reverse cypher seen on the helmet badges.
