F W Mussenden



The 8th Hussars were in India when Lieutenant-Colonel Deare retired on 13th October 1913. Major Mussenden was promoted and took over command. In February the following year they were in Ambala and orders came through on 31st August that they were to be mobilised to join the war against Germany. F W Mussenden, whose father had also been Commanding officer of the 8th, commanded the regiment in France. The photo shows him as a young Lieutenant in the 1890s.
