Sabretache 1870-1880

The narrow laced design was phased out c1870 and replaced with a more conventional type. The shamrock gold lace was wider on the sides and bottom but a narrower version was place along the top edge. The battle honours were positioned as before but CENTRAL INDIA was on a scroll curled around the base of the harp. Instead of the regimental title beneath the top crown there was the motto, PRISTINA VIRTUTIS MEMORES. It was a more compact design and a great improvement on the previous two types. A closer look at the embroidery in Detail shows the lettering more clearly.
