Lance Corporal David Dennis




David 'Duke' Dennis, the only Welshman in the regiment, was 29 years old when he was killed in an explosion in Afghanistan on 4th July 2009. He was patrolling on foot in the area north of Lashkar Gah to clear the place of insurgents when he came in contact with an improvised explosive device. He was born on 16th May 1980 and joined the army on 14th Feb 2003. He was in the artillery for two years and was attached to the Light Dragoons in Iraq in 2005. He transferred in Feb 2006. He was on his second tour of duty in Afghanistan. He was unmarried, and greatly mourned by his mother Adele, father Roger, and twin brother Gareth of Llanelli.
