Queen's Own Hussars

3rd Hussar Pouchbelt

The pouchbelt worn in no.1 Dress by the adjutant and field officers of the Queen's Own Hussars. It is a relic of the 3rd Hussars and is of gold lace sewn onto a red Morocco leather belt with scarlet silk down the middle and scarlet cloth edges. The pickers, chains, buckle, slide and tip are in hallmarked silver, as is the pouch flap. The pouch itself is of black leather and the cypher in gilt is that of Queen Victoria. An alternative George V cypher is on the right of the pouch. This style of pouch and belt are of light dragoon origin and was only worn by those regiments that converted to hussars in 1861.
