Queen's Own Hussars

Drumhorse 1985

The Queen's Own Hussars parade through the streets of Birmingham on 17th May 1985 led by the drumhorse and the two Staff Sergeants in full dress. The regiment followed behind in no.2 dress, led by Lt-Col Jenkins. The occasion was the laying up of the 1959 guidon in Birmingham Cathedral and the conferring of the freedom of the City of Birmingham on the QOH. The drummer and escort wear white pouch-belts without pickers and chains as was worn in later years. The drumhorse is that of the former 3rd Hussars which carries silver drums without drum-banners. The other distinction is the silver collar worn by the drummer. The uniforms are based on the 3rd Hussar full dress, with garter blue busby bags and scarlet collars.
