Queen's Own Hussars


Suffolk Road Riot, 1973



The regiment trained in riot control in the two months before going to Northern Ireland, in the infantry role, in June 1973. They experienced at least one major and one minor riot in their time there. This one in the Suffolk Road took place in August 1973. They were armed with the 7.62mm Self-Loading Rifle.
