Field Service Marching Order, Off Side 1930

The trooper of 1930 was photographed in that year, at Tidworth, to demonstrate how the weight carried by the horse had been reduced by 32lb 11.25oz since 1918. The uniform had changed little and much of the load was now carried in lorries. The rifle was kept in a holster behind his right leg and there are round mess tins and a nosebag attached. There is a webbing haversack on his right hip and a bag on his shoulder, perhaps for a gas-mask although no mention is made of that item.
