Drum Banner c1885

This drawing from P W Reynolds' note books is self explanatory although he was unable to say what colour the banner was from the photo. In fact it was blue, and this is borne out by the picture below. It is a photo of a detailed painting which was reproduced in British Military Uniforms, a Swift Picture Book compiled by W Y Carman and published in 1962 by Longacre Press. The date of the picture is not stated but there is a mounted kettle-drummer in the background, on the right. The drum banner almost matches Reynolds' drawing and is in a dark colour that can only be blue.
