Drumhorse Shabraque 1904

The new, and last pattern shabraque for the Greys Drumhorse was red, and had a less cluttered design than before. The regiment did not receive it until their return from South Africa in 1904 but it must have been prepared several years earlier c1900 while Queen Victoria was alive, as the crown is hers not King Edward's. Seeing it like this off the horse shows how the black sheepskin is fixed to the cloth and we can see that there is a slit for the cantle of the saddle to fit through.
