Mounted Trumpeters 1934

This photo, taken by Godfrey Brennan is pasted in his album with a description: 'Trumpeters. Royal Scots Greys. Edinburgh. June 1934. Scarlet plume curving over the top of cap. Trumpet banners - blue. Saddle blankets - blue. Shoulder Titles - GREYS (in brass) (some of the troopers wore the 2 D in worsted on the shoulder straps, and some as the trumpeters.

The trumpeters have the large white leather band pouches on their backs. All the yellow parts of the uniform appear as dark; the piping around the collar and shoulder straps, the Austrian knot on the cuffs, the stripe down the side of the overalls, and the trumpet cords which are red, yellow and blue. Overalls were normally reserved for dismounted dress but for some reason they wear them while mounted up on this occasion.
