Drumhorse Rex 1936

The Greys returned to Scotland from India in 1928 and were stationed at Edinburgh. They had difficulty in finding a suitable drumhorse and after two attempts they chose Rex, a black horse that served them well until 1936. One sergeant was quoted as saying that Rex was "One of the best drumhorses the regiment ever had." But in 1936 he had a fall in the barrack square and was so badly injured that he had to be shot. The photo shows Drummer Everson mounted up in 1936.
