Pipe-Major 1970

The uniform of the Pipe-Major prior to amalgamation appeared on the cover of this vinyl album released in 1970. His lace was silver and there were Eagle badges on his collar, sleeve and the leather baldrick worn on the right shoulder. The feather bonnet had a white zig-zag and white plume. The Greys musicians had a tradition of wearing red plumes but this would have confused their pipers with the Black Watch who had red plumes and also the Royal Stewart tartan.
