Cap Badge

The eagle badge of the Greys celebrates the capture of the standard of the French 45th Regiment at Waterloo in 1815, by Sergeant Ewart. This bimetal cap badge has the Eagle and WATERLOO in silver metal and the gilt title ROYAL SCOTS GREYS which was officially used since 1877.' This badge was worn in 1900 according to the Dress Regulations, and probably earlier. It remained unchanged until 1971, but is still the basis for the badge of the Carabiniers and Greys.
