Standard Bearer and Escort 1904


The Squadron Sergeant-Major carries the guidon that was in used on the late 1890s. The battle honours for the Boer War had yet to be added. He is flanked by an escort of sergeants of the Greys who wear medals for the war in South Africa. The guidon belt is plain white, in contrast to the laced and decorated belt of c1897. The photo was taken at Norwich in 1904.
