Brigadier John Edmund Swetenham DSO


John Edmund Swetenham was born on 11 May 1909 at Kibworth, Leicestershire. He usually used his middle name. He was the son of Major Foster Swetenham who served in the Boer War also as a Scots Greys officer. Edmund served in the Scots Greys and was commanding officer in the 1950s. He was appointed Colonel of the regiment on 1 Jan 1958 retiring on 31 Dec 1967. On 11 Jan 1938 he married Alison Ann Wilson daughter of Col Hon Guy Greville Wilson. They had a son, John Foster Swetenham. Brigadier Swetenham died in 1986.
