Officers 1914

The officers of the Scots Greys photographed prior to embarkation for France. The photo was probably taken in York where they were last stationed before the war. The Commanding officer was Lieutenant-Colonel Bulkeley-Johnson who was later killed on 11 April 1917. He is the square-faced officer seated fourth from the right and strangely does no have any rank markings on his sleeves. Next to him with three lines round his cuffs is Major Foster Swetenham who was the first casualty amongst the officers, being killed near St Quentin on 28 Aug 1914.
