H I M Nicholas II Tzar of Russia


Tzar Nicholas was the first Colonel-in-Chief of the Scots Greys from 8 Dec 1894 until his death on 17 July 1918. The painting of him in the dress uniform of the Scots Greys was painted by Valentin Serov in 1902. The Tzar had seen the Scots Greys at his wedding in 1894 and was fond of wearing the uniform after being appointed Colonel-in-Chief.
