Officer's Forage Cap Badge

The date of this embroidered badge is unclear but the photo of officers of 1872 shows an embroidered cap badge like this. The dress regulations prior to 1900 stipulate this badge, on green cloth with gold embroidery for the bugle and battle honour, silver for the mural crown, but the PA (Prince Albert) in metal. The 1900 Dress Regulations say that the forage cap was not worn by the Somerset Light Infantry, so the badge had become obsolete at some time in the 1890s.
