Graves at Shabkadr


The four men of the Somerset Light Infantry who were killed at Shabkadr on 9 Aug 1897 were laid to rest in these graves. Two officers, Major Lumb and 2nd Lt Drummond, and 9 men were wounded in the battle. The inscription on the low wall in front of the graves reads; 1st P.A. Somt. L.I. (1st Battalion Prince Albert's Somerset Light Infantry).
