Shoulder Scale 1844-55

This shoulder scale or strap, was worn with the frock-coat in undress by the officers of the 13th Light Infantry. The star indicates the rank of major. Captains and subalterns did not show the rank. The badge of the 13th was in silver embroidery on each shoulder but with the bugle turned towards the front. This strap was worn after 1844 when the 13th had been awarded the battle honour for Jellalabad. The badge is on green velvet, and the gold lace has a black line.
