Schematic Detail 1815

The artist Bryan Fosten researched the uniforms worn at Waterloo and made a schematic diagram to explain all of them. This one of the 14th Foot shows the buff facings which have the officers' button decoration devoid of silver lace. The other rank's lace pattern is shown enlarged an the bottom of the scheme: a blue and red stripe one side an a buff stripe the other. The square-ended style of button loop is shown on the right of the scheme. The shako plate and other ranks' belt-plate are shown. There are variations of the shako plate, some have just the GR cypher, some have just the 14 and this one has both.
