A March to The Bank

This famous cartoon by Gillray was published on 22nd August 1787 and was intended to ridicule the Foot Guards who provided the picquet that daily marched to the Bank of England following the Gordon Riots. The soldiers were regarded as a nuisance because of the way they marched two abreast with little consideration for the pedestrians.
