Officer's Belt-plate 1847-55

After the First Sikh War of 1845-6 the 31st had the four battle honours to add to their list; MOODKEE FEROZESHAH ALIWAL and SOBRAON. As well as these, there was the honour for CABOOL 1842 which was granted in June 1844. The honour for Orthes which was fought during the Peninsula War was not granted until June 1847. The opportunity was taken to redesign the previous belt-plate to add these six new honours to the seven already emblazoned. The result is a rather fussy design but an improvement on the 1830 plate.
