Colours, 1st Battalion 1871-1951


This photo was taken c1930 and shows the same Colours that feature in the Simkin painting. Five more battle honours have been added to the Regimental Colour on the right. The Colours were intended to last 20 years but in fact lasted until 1951, a period of 80 years. The green Fontenoy Wreath can be seen at the bottom of the Regimental Colour. The drums and mace below the Colours are those taken from the 34th French Infantry Regiment at Arroyo dos Molinos.
