The printmaker G Lewis produced many battle scenes of the Peninsular War. This one from a painting by L M Wright shows the action at Sorauren on 28th July 1813 with the Duke of Wellington and his staff on the right. The French and British troops are engaged in a desperate close-quarter struggle as Portuguese or Spanish soldiers drag an artillery piece into the action.
