Other Ranks' Bonnet c1860

This actual example of a Black Watch feather bonnet seems smaller than those seen in contemporary photos. The black feathers are ostrich and hang in fox tails on the right side. The red hackle is made of vulture feathers. The cap band of woollen cloth has red and white check with green in the middle row. The cap badge at this time had three battle honours; WATERLOO PENINSULA and EGYPT. It is place on a black backing which is almost the same size as the badge.
