King's Colour 1745

This colour was carried at the Battle of Culloden, 16th April 1745 and was fiercely defended by Lieutenant-Colonel Rich and Ensign Brown who were badly wounded. It is the Union Flag as it was before the Act of Union with Ireland in 1801. The crown is in the centre with crossed sceptres below. It differs greatly from the King's Colours carried in the 1750s.
