King's Colour, Second Battalion 1756-8

The 4th King's Own raised a second battalion in 1756 but it only lasted until 1758 when it became the 62nd Regiment. The detail of the embroidery is in contrast with the plain illustrations of the 1751 version. The crowned cypher in the middle of the Union flag is surrounded with a wreath of thistles and roses. There is a numeral IV in the corner, also wreathed. A yellow 'flaming ray' extends from the upper corner; this is the distinction of the second battalion.
