Presentation of New Colours 1905

The 2nd Battalion The King's Own were stationed in India before the First World War and were at Fort William in Calcutta when the Prince of Wales, the future George V, presented them with new Colours on 30th Dec 1905. This photo was published in 'The Royal Tour Souvenir Album, India 1905-1906' published by Johnston & Hoffman, Calcutta. All the photographs were taken at a respectful distance from the Royal couple so it is difficult to make out what is happening but the caption says that the PoW is presenting the new Colours to the two youngest subalterns, kneeling.
