Death of Pakenham

Edward Pakenham was 36 when he was mortally wounded at New Orleans. He was first wounded in the knee, then the arm and finally by cannon fire which damaged his spine. His brother-in-law the Duke of Wellington was devastated by news of his death and blamed the incompetence of Admiral Cochrane.
