The Royal Irish Regiment

2nd Lieutenant 1914

The khaki service dress had bronzed collar badges of the same pattern as the cap badge. The gorblimey cap has had the wire stiffener removed from the upper rim and there is a folded up neck protector for bad weather or hot sun. The gilt buttons can be seen here and were of regimental pattern for officers only. There is a lanyard on his left shoulder for his whistle.
