Aboukir Bay

Watercolour by Edward Dayes of the boats landing under artillery fire from the fort in the background. Cavalry can be seen attacking from the left. A Guards Colour is raised near some well ordered ranks in the middle distance. The long boats are full of soldiers sat at the back while the sailors at the front row them forward. A boat in the foreground has a canon to give covering fire. Beyond that, the nearest boat to us contains Sir Ralph Abercrombie and his staff.
