Pipe-Major c1875

The full dress of the pipe-major and pipers of the Scots Guards was full Highland dress including kilt and shoulder plaid. The blue doublet had silver buttons, lace and braid. The belts are black leather with silver ornaments. The sporran was of white goat hair with three black hair tassels with black and silver cantle. The socks are black and red check worn here with silver buckled shoes. The blue glengarry is a rather plain head-dress for this costume but it was later adorned with a blackcock feather and in 1928 replaced by the feather bonnet.
