Officer's Helmet Badge 1881-1901

Prior to 1881 most regiments of foot used numbers on their badges as was the case for the 45th and 95th but on the regimental badge here a lodged stag has been adopted as the symbol together with the Maltese Cross of the old 95th. The silver scroll at the base of the badge has SHERWOOD FORESTERS while a smaller gilt scroll below the wreath has DERBYSHIRE with the words THE and REG either side of the wreath. The post-1902 badge has NOTTS & DERBY on the scroll.
