| William Earnest Brown was commissioned into the 12th Battalion South Wales Borderers in 1915. His promotion was rapid, going from 2nd lieutenant to lieutenant-colonel in 3 years. He was appointed Commanding officer of the 18th Battalion The Welsh Regiment in 1918. |
