1st Battalion Regimental Colour c1890

This is the Regimental Colour that was supposed to be carried by the South Wales Borderers between the years 1881 and 1905 while they had white facings. All the non-Royal English regiments were required to carry such a Colour, with their badge and title in the middle. This one has the Victorian crown and the numeral I in the upper corner denoting 1st Battalion. But the regiment preferred to parade their old green regimental Colour. The circular arrangement of honours has 16 scrolls and there are two more above and below the central device with the Sphinx of EGYPT at the base.
