1st Battalion Colours 1958

The Colours presented to the 1st Battalion by the Duke of Edinburgh in 1958 are featured in this painting. After World War 2 the number of battle honours emblazoned on the Queen's Colour was doubled so that there were 10 honours for each World War on either side of the central device. The other 20 honours plus EGYPT were displayed on the green Regimental Colour. The crown is now the Queen Elizabeth crown, and the device in the middle of the green Colour has the old regimental number XXIV.
