Musical Ride

The first NWMP Musical Ride was organized in the mid-1880's and there were five public performances during the winter of 1887. Some performances used 16 men, others 32, but the basic elements that are found in the modern RCMP Musical Ride were incorporated. The Musical Ride is based at the RCMP Rockcliffe Stables, in Ottawa. The troop consists of 32 riders ... Until 1966, equitation formed part of the basic training for all RCMP recruits.
