Royal Visit

The Royal Visit of the Duke and Duchess of Cornwall and York lasted from May to August 1902. This gouache painting shows the Fiji Constabulary waving them off on 23rd August. The main figure appears to be an officer since he is wearing a pouchbelt. The kilt or sulu reaches just below the knees. He has shoes but other photographs show them as being barefoot.
