Rohtak

This well-known print by Atkinson shows Hodson's Horse in their first major action At Rohtak on 18th August 1857. It took place on the plain outside the town and was a complete victory for the new unit, and confirmation of Hodson's great skill as a light cavalry commander. The regiment are conspicuous by their red turbans, pinkish coloured tunics and black leather pouch-belts and jackboots.
