Subadar-Major Yar Muhammad, 1911



Subadar-Major Yar Muhammad photographed in London when he represented his regiment at the Coronation. He joined the army in 1878 and became a jemadar after 11 years, rising to subadar-major in 1896. He has a medal for Afghanistan 1879-80, a medal for Burma 1886-89 with 2 clasps and a medal and clasp for Uganda 1897-99 where he was severely wounded. He was promoted to the Order of British India, 1st Class, in 1909.
