Duli Chand reached the rank of Subedar Major in the 94th Russell’s Infantry and was awarded the IDSM (Indian Distinguished Service Medal). On 1 July 1921 he was granted the honorary rank of lieutenant. His photo and documents have been supplied by Nagender Gulliya his great-grandson. A memo from the CO of the 94th, dated 26 July 1921 refers to Duli Chand being appointed Nambardar/Lambardar. This would make him Headman of a village or area of high status.

A very regal document declares that Duli Chand IDSM is commissioned to be Honorary Lieutenant, dated 1 July 1921. It has the signature of King George V in the top left corner which must be a rubber stamp.
There is also an embossed 'Sanad' from the Viceroy, presented to Subadar Major Duli Chand signed by Major-General A H Bingley, dated 20 July 1920.
